Koja is one of the seven Albanian tribes of Malësi e Madhe. Koja is the Albanian Catholic tribe of Koja e Kuçit which is combination of the Albanian Koja tribe and theMontenegrin Kuči tribe. The people of Koja are called Kojan(e). Koja managed to keep its Albanian identity alive throughout the centuries of Slavic expansion eventually being surrounded by the Slavic tribe known as Kuči. Not one Albanian house from Koja converted to Islam and till this day they are 100% Roman Catholic. Pretash Zeka Ulaj from Koja was one of the Malësor leaders that lead Albania to its freedom when fighting on 1911 in the Battle of Deçiqi, along-side the famous Ded Gjo Luli from Hoti.
