Template:Infobox Politician 2 Michael "Mickey" McGlothlin is an Appalachian public figure from Southwest Virginia. He began his career in public service when he was elected to Commonwealth Attorney of Buchanan County, VA in 1979. Not seeking a second term, he co-founded the McGlothlin & Wife Law Firm in his native , Grundy, VA. Throughout the 1980's and 1990's he participated in numerous political, civic, and educational boards around Southwest Virginia and the state of Virginia. He heavily advocated for the establishment of the Appalachian School of Law and the University of Appalachia College of Pharmacy. Since its creation, he has served on the Board of Visitors for both schools and also has served as President of the University of Appalachia College of Pharmacy.

In the spring of 2007, he declared his intent to seek the Democratic Nomination for the 3rd District Seat of the Virginia House of Delegates. The 3rd District comprises of Buchanan and parts of Tazewell and Russell counties. An open Democratic Primary will be held on June 12, 2007. .[1]
