Tomiko Fraser is an African-American actress and fashion model, well known as one of the 'faces' of cosmetics company Maybelline. She is also known for her involvement in Lupus erythematosus awareness (her sister suffers from the disease).

Biography

Fraser is from the South and a child of divorce. Fraser's mom has 3 children and Faser's dad has 4 kids. Fraser states she is close to them all; one of her brother is a DJ. Fraser attended Cardinal Spellman High School. Fraser states that as a child she was nerdy in that she loved school and I loved learning.

I wanted to be a teacher when I was growing up. I went to catholic school. I even helped the nuns out. I liked school.

Model

Tomiko was spotted by a model scout whilst working in downtown NY fast food joint Lola. Given this opportunity, she decided to swap burgers for high fashion!

Her first modeling job was a Seventeen Magazine shoot that she describes as " . . . fun, scary, simple. They gave me a lot of hair. I had a really long ponytail. It was just one picture. I was excited because I was a working model."

She has appeared in numerous fashion campaigns, including for Gap and Target. Tomiko describes the Target campaing:

"At the Target shoot, there was red and white all over. I was pushing a shopping cart with red and white bottles of detergent with a big smile. It was so much fun."

Tomiko has worked Chloe, Chanel, Vera Wang, Vivienne Westwood and Emmanuel Ungaro runway shows. Famous photographer Mario Testino has photographed Tomiko for US Vogue.
