Clairemont High School is located in the pleasant neighborhood of Clairemont. Located on top of a hill, it offers fantastic views of Mission Bay and the Pacific Ocean. Since the neighborhood of Clairemont is filled with many streets named after indians, it's no surprise that Clairemont's mascot is the Chieftain. It's a small school, second smallest public school to be exact. Clairemont is not know for academic or athletic excellence. It hasn't won any major academic awards. The last time the football team won CIF was in 1981 (although they did make the play-offs in 2004). The movie Fast Times at Richmond High was based on Clairemont. The film creator spent some time studying the life of high school students at Clairemont to make his movie.
