Gruda (tribe)

Gruda is one of the seven Albanian tribes of Malësia. Located in southern Montenegro, Gruda lies just north of Lake Scutari


The majority of Gruda is Roman Catholic with a minority (20-30%) of Muslims living in the Milesh, Dinosha, and Tuzi villages.


Before the arrival of the Ottoman Empire the village of Dinosha was called "Katundi i Zojës". The church of Gruda is the oldest church in Malësia. Tuzi, which is a town in Gruda, is also considered to be the main town of all Malësia. Gruda is made up of the following villages: Ksheva, Deçiqi, Dinosha, Mileshi, Sëlisht, Vranë, Prift, Tergaja, Planica, Shipshanik, Pikalë, Lekaj, Dheu i Zi, Suka e Grudes, and Tuzi.
