I-Empire is the sophomore album by Angels and Airwaves. It is set to be released sometime during the autumn of 2007.

The Making of the Album

In an interview with alternative radio on 20 May 2007, Tom DeLonge said that the album was 60-70% complete and that the record should be out in September or October 2007. Tom also stated that the album would continue the element of the first album but "times ten", and that in a story, I-Empire would follow We Don't Need To Whisper; We Don't Need To Whisper being a 're-birth' of life, and I-Empire being an album about what you do after the re-birth. On 30 May 2007, Tom Delonge stated in an interview with Kerrang! that the new album would be named I-Empire and this is as exciting as rock 'n' roll gets!. In an Alternative Press interview with Tom, it was revealed that there will be between 11 and 13 songs on the new album.

I-Empire is set to be the first ever album recorded in the Macbeth Studio. Angels and Airwaves started work on the album in the beginning of 2007.

Tentative Tracks

Fans speculate that one of the songs to be featured on the new album will be "Star of Bethlehem". This song was debuted live in Australia in October 2006, and uploaded to the band's MySpace page on November 21st 2006. Tom DeLonge appeared to speak about the track on the band's official website beforehand. "I can't wait till you all hear this new song, 8 1/2 mins long, three movements... and all the chills to go along". However, in a December 2006 interview with MTV, Tom DeLonge said the band will start recording their new album after the new year, implying that "Star of Bethlehem" will not be on I-Empire. Therefore there are no official tracks mentioned as of this time.

Release Speculation

In an Alternative Press interview, DeLonge says "When we launch this record, we'll also be launching a major piece of technology that will revolutionize mainstream America." Although he's stingy with the details, Delonge hints the mystery might be "some type of operating system. It was made clear in an earlier radio interview that in fact it is an Operating System, Tom mentioned "We are building an operating system". Theories have suggested that it may be a special type of musician operating system or even not an operating system in computer terms though a method of operating music live.

The album will be released under Geffen Records in partnership with Universal Music Group & Island Records
