Ellenabad is a city and a municipal committee in Sirsa district in the state of Haryana, India.

Geography

Ellenabad is located at 29°27′N 74°39′E / 29.45°N 74.65°E / 29.45; 74.65[1]. It has an average elevation of 189 metres (620 feet).

Demographics

As of 2001 India censusTemplate:GR, Ellenabad had a population of 32,786. Males constitute 54% of the population and females 46%. Ellenabad has an average literacy rate of 59%, lower than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 64%, and female literacy is 49%. In Ellenabad, 15% of the population is under 6 years of age. It was named after a foreigner lady ELLENA. Previously it was named 'Khariyal'.Dhanuka family first come there.

Ellenabad has very a evenly distributed sikh and hindu population. There is a small muslim and christian population also.

This towns lifeline is agriculture. The town of ellenabad only has one cinema, one cyber café, one train connection to new delhi daily, one petrol pump in the heart of town, one english primary and secondary school and only one sattelite cable supplier in the whole of the town.

The town is a major supports a lot of small villages in and around Ellenbad. They are Raina, Rampur, Mamera, and a few other.
