Ota is a town in Ogun State, Nigeria, and has an estimated 163,783 residents living in or around it. [1]

Also known as Sango-Ota, Ota possesses a large market, found just north of the tollgate on the Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway. Ota, sometimes wrongly spelt as Otta, is also well-known as the home of Nigerian president Olusegun Obasanjo's farm, Royal College, the compound of the mega-church Winner's Chapel, and the Africa Leadership Forum. Many manufacturing companies make their home in the industrial area just north of the Sango market. There are two universities in Ota, Covenant University and Bells University of Technology. The city is also home to Iganmode Grammar School and Bells Comprehensive Secondary School. The Largest Church Building in the world also stands there as well. The indigines are predominantly Awori speaking dialect of the Yoruba people. They trace their ancestory down from Ile-Ife with Iganmode as their patriach. Other Aworis are Located in the neighbouring Lagos State and there has been several agitations for them to be re-united with their kin in Lagos state where they are a majority as they have mostly been neglected in the politics of Ogun State where they are a minority.

The King of Ota is the Olota of Ota, Oba Alani Oyede. There are many prominent indigines all over the world. An example is Engr. Akintayo Oyede in London, UK.
