The Minneapolis Post Office is the central post office for Minneapolis, Minnesota in the United States. The office is located on First Street on the west bank of the Mississippi River. Its zip code is 55401.
Both the post office and its first parking lot to the east are contributing properties in the St. Anthony Falls Historic District.[1] A seven level parking structure and loading dock for bulk mail were added to the west in 1976.[2]
The Art Deco building features a 1000 ft-long lobby, still utilizing its original brass windows and fixtures, marble terrazzo floor, and sandstone walls. The light fixture is the longest brass light fixture in the United States, spanning the entire length of the lobby.
The architects Magney and Tusler, and later, Setter, designed the post office, the Foshay Tower (with Hooper and Janusch), the Calhoun Beach Club and other Minneapolis buildings.
