QPR

Gareth Ainsworth signed for QPR at the start of the 2003/04 season, from Cardiff, the team that beat QPR in the previous seasons play-off final. In the opening game of the season Ainsworth scored 2 in a 5-0 win over Blackpool. QPR won promotion that season.

Since then Ainsworth has struggled with injuries, but when fit has been a regular in the side. During the disappointing campaign of 2005/06 Ainsworth was one of the only bright points, coming second in the player of the year awards behind Danny Shittu, and finishing joint top scorer on 11 goals with Marc Nygaard.

The following season was something of a struggle for Ainsworth, with another change of manager and injuries, but when he did play his forceful play down the wing was impressive.

Ainsworth is one of the featured players in the internet viral sensation 'Pass It On', created to publicize the launch of 24 bespoke football designs by Mitre. One for each of the clubs in The Championship.
