Template:Bleach character info Noitora (ノイトラ, sometimes romanized as Neutra) is a fictional character in the manga series Bleach created by Tite Kubo. He is an Espada in Sōsuke Aizen's arrancar army.

Character outline

Noitora is an extremely tall and lanky arrancar, dwarfing Yasutora Sado by at least a foot (even when leaning over).[1] He has long, black hair and always wears a huge smile on his face which reveals his upper teeth. He wears an eyepatch, six bracelets, and his arrancar uniform includes an overblown, spoon-like hood. He seems rude and lecherous, accented by his snake-like eye and his nickname for Orihime Inoue, "pet-sama".[2] The remains of his hollow mask and hole are not visible, though his eyepatch may be the only remnant left, or they may simply be hidden by his hood. Though he initially appears to be very sadistic, he has no desire to kill those he sees as weaklings because it does not help prove that he is the strongest Espada.[3]

Despite his fragile and thin appearance, Noitora is quite powerful, able to fend off the full power of Sado's attack arm without any sign of injury and cut through his defense arm in a single swing.[4] Noitora's conversation with the arrancar Tesla implies he is not the highest ranking Espada, though he is constantly trying to prove he is.

Synopsis

Hueco Mundo arc

Noitora first appears during the creation of a new arrancar, Wonderwice Margera.[5] Afterwards he is seen when Aizen gathers the Espada to inform them that Hueco Mundo has been invaded by Ichigo Kurosaki, Uryū Ishida, and Yasutora Sado.[6] Noitora comments that it would be "awesome" if the intruders had arrived directly in the meeting room. However, Noitora seems unimpressed by the invaders, despite Aizen's claim that they shouldn't be underestimated. This leads to a brief argument with the female Espada, Halibel. Aizen commands them to ignore the threat and act normal.[7] Noitora isn't happy with just doing nothing, so he actively begins hunting the nearest intruder, Sado, after a brief conversation with Ulquiorra Schiffer, the 4th Espada, regarding Orihime.

Noitora tracks Sado down just as Sado defeats Gantenbein. Judging him by his appearance, Chad assumes Noitora will move slowly and that ending their battle in a single strike will be best. This backfires, and Noitora remains unfazed after taking a direct hit. Noitora then cuts through Sado's defense arm and chest with only a single slash.Cite error: A <ref> tag is missing the closing </ref> (see the help page).

To Noitora's surprise, Sado gets up and attempts another attack, but is stopped by Tesla.[8] Sado collapses once again after his attack fails and Noitora threatens Tesla for interfering in his fight. Tesla explains that defeated enemies make their last blow count, but Noitora confidently replies, "Not one soul in this universe can break this body of mine. Don't forget, I am the strongest Espada."[9]

He reappears once again after the battle between Ichigo and Grimmjow, where he quickly slices Grimmjow and prepares to take over the battle with Ichigo.[10]

Noitora's zanpakutō

The name of Noitora's zanpakutō has not been revealed, but it takes the form of a giant scythe or axe-like weapon bearing two crescent moon blades with a chain at the hilt that attaches to his waist, which he can use to perform ranged attacks.[11] Although the chain has been shown in Noitora's previous appearances, no sign of the zanpakutō itself are shown with it, suggesting that it either takes that form when unsealed, is able to change shape when not in use, or he simply did not carry it with him in his earlier appearances.
