Guns n Roses Bottling Edit

A friend of mine who was at the download festival told me that the bottle which hit the Guns n Roses bassist was filled with urine, so I added that detail.

How exactly would your friend have known that as a fact unless they personally threw it or stood next to the person throwing it? Please dont include infomation where your only source is from 'a friend' who was in a crowd of many thousands and probabley nowhere near the incident. -Reue-

163.1.95.112's edits

The user with IP 163.1.95.112 has been making numerous silly edits, and still believes that "James Dodd" has a claim to fame as organising Metallica's surprise gig at Download festival. This is clearly immature nonsensical tripe and I can personally vouch for this fact being fabricated, albeit not maliciously.

These are anonymous edits. As a side point, the vandal should not spend time editing an encyclopaedia that he thinks is a waste of time; his continuous efforts to undermine this wealth of (pseudo-)knowledge appears to vindicate Wikipedia's position as one of the greatest resources of information available.

Some of you may remember an article about "James Dodd" with this claim which was then put up for deletion. The result was, of course, delete.

twisted realm

i've never heard of this twisted realm thing DOES USER: x-rATED have any proof of it actual involvement with the festival? Jamie-planetx 11:32, 13 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Jamie-planetx: Twisted Realm dose exist - the details are on my website and you look it up on the offical download website for proof.

Furter to that, I would like to point it is not offically involved with the festival - it's just a promoter and a few bands getting together on campfield playing some songs. -23:07, 24 April 2006 SanityFreeZone

im not sure about this, the entry should stay it seems to be the only media coveraged your gonna get, im not sure what you plan to do i mean do you have a stage is it the NEW campsite stage, live nation have already stated that there will be non-stop campsite entertainment this year do you plan to be apart of that? or DO YOU PLAN TO OUT-DO IT? im just checkin the site and there is bugger all there, but if you mean the boards i feel very sorry for you. i do have semi-high respect for serj-tankian, the aparent creator of this horiible idea, i mean god only knows how many idiots take a guitar for there own entertainment, surely this is nothing special? please respond Jamie-planetx 16:31, 25 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

200 people probably didn't turn up last year to see the other "idiots with guitars."

new page

i thought of placing the 2006 section into a new page and keep this page to concern the history of the download festival i thought the 2006 section looked clutered and out of place, i have named the page This years download festival so it can be re-edited to contain information about future download festivals i have removed previous talk about 2006 and applyied it to the This years download festival talk page.--172.209.53.212 23:30, 1 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Sounds like a good idea to me, the current page is always suseptable to vanadalism from people placing fake line ups so it could solve some problems. But the articles would need to be merged after the festival is it really worth it? --Seth Turner 07:10, 4 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
yeah i was kinda ticked about that Jamie-planetx 21:06, 5 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Vandalism and False Lineups

Again, like the page that was merged with this article, this page is becoming increasingly annoying to maintain, people keep adding bands to the lineup that arent playing. Even more annoying is that they're badly spelt so it looks even more unprofessional. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by BenjMartin (talkcontribs) 10:16, May 5, 2006 (UTC)

Ireland 2006

Korn didn't play at all (even though they were meant to), instead Alice in Chains played main stage. Conorobradaigh 01:20, 12 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The rumour out in the feild was that the guitarist broke his wrist during a drinking session the night before. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 193.120.102.137 (talkcontribs) 16:20, June 12, 2006 (UTC)

korn played at rock am ring here, but i think their best days a over yet :(
there is a major break since the old guitarist has been brainwashed by the U.S. religious right and left the band. the drummer isnt as cool before, too.
im little disappointed.
BTW: i see funeral for a friend on download playing on kerrang!TV right now. does anyone know why they didnt play at RaR? werent they invited? did they refuse? any information? ive missed this greatest new metal band. a german —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 85.212.136.34 (talkcontribs) 18:37, June 23, 2006 (UTC)

It would be nice to see this article updated with at least a mention of Download Ireland 2006 with Metallica and G'n'R headlining. - Maddzy —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 83.71.30.109 (talkcontribs) 13:04, July 9, 2006 (UTC)

2006 US Festivals

Can someone add information on the two festivals from '06 that took place in the US? Informative link. I don't know enough about the connection between the two "branches" (UK/US) to do so intelligently. --Dante Alighieri | Talk 23:56, 2 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

theyre not so much a rock/metal festival in the vein of previous donington festivals, they are much smaller events and feature bands such as the killers, etc.

2004 Lineup

Anyone able to modify the 2004 lineup to reflect the fact that Instruction actually played twice on the Saturday. As well as their slot as shown, they also opened the main stage (as originally billed) CaptainCarrot105 13:37, 17 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Emo bands

I think that in the genre section at the top of the page it should state that the festival has emo bands playing. it says it has grunge bands that play, butif you look at the lineups, especially 2005's you will see conciderably more emo bands than grunge. so i dont see why emo keeeps on getting deleted. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 213.120.81.205 (talkcontribs) 15:09, March 14, 2007 (UTC)

Please read WP:ATT for why this keeps getting removed. When the Download Festival organizers start describing the festival as an Emo festival, then this page will be updated to include that. AlistairMcMillan 16:15, 14 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Well they arent going to call it emo due to it having somewhat of a bad press amongst metal and hard rock fans. people call genres of music all kinds of things, jus like one of the festivals main organisers "Kerrang!". That magazine is full of emo, yet they still insist on calling it rock.

the fact is, the festival features a lot of emo bands so i think it should be included in the genre section. Even when you click on some of the links to the bands wiki sites they are described as emo. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 213.120.81.205 (talkcontribs) 14:49, March 19, 2007 (UTC)

That's nice. Please read WP:ATT. Please note, zero results for "emo" on the Download Festival website. AlistairMcMillan 16:53, 19 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for the lovely sarcastic response, but when i tried to link the word "emo" to the emo music wiki, the link didn't seem to work. Im sure if you ask most of the people who attent the festival, they would aggree that there are indeed emo bands playing at the festival. Probably the reason why emo comes under fire on the download forums. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 62.189.96.213 (talkcontribs) 16:02, March 20, 2007 (UTC)

Sorry but unless you can come up with a "reliable source" saying that the Download Festival is a festival of emo music, then we can't say that in the article. Thanks. AlistairMcMillan 16:46, 20 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Because My Chemical Romance headlining with bands like 30 Seconds To Mars, Enter Shikari, Bowling for Soup etc.. playing and past bands like Get Cape Wear Cape Fly, Moneen, :(, The Audition, The All American Rejects, Alexisonfire, Aiden, From First To Last, Coheed and Cambria, Funeral For A Friend, The Used, Biffy Clyro, Hoobastank, Taking Back Sunday, Sum 41, Thrice, Brand New, Violent Delight, From Autumn To Ashes, A, INME, Etc.. are all metal bands ? Emo is part of download and claiming it's not is just rediculous.Karl-OH 11:07, 23 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

True, but atleast they had Maiden.XXMurderSoulXx 14:31, 19 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

March 2007 vandalism

well, it seems some prick has gone about writing "moashing" bastards accross the 2007 lineup. clearly some little turd needs to learn how to spell and fuck off back to there gay little v fest. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 213.120.81.205 (talkcontribs) 15:22, March 30, 2007 (UTC)

That vandalism was reverted two days ago. Please watch your language. AlistairMcMillan 15:38, 30 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Wheeey ya mosher bastards!!! Total getting uptight and shit hahahahaha! Mind last year when it was total 30 degree heat and all the moshers put fashion before common sense and wore black and total melted. Put that in the page. Its funny. --86.153.1.190 13:37, 2 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Also I find it ironic that you talk about the vandals not being able to spell. It seems that problem is common accross the board eh? Ha — Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.153.1.190 (talkcontribs) 13:39, April 2, 2007 (UTC)

i think this page needs to be locked to protect against vandalism. seeing as some people are clearly too imature to contain their moronic side i think it would be for the best. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 62.189.96.213 (talk) 13:43, 2 April 2007 (UTC).[reply]

Yeah, it takes a real genius to pay attention in English class to learn how to spell. Any monkey can copy another.

Ken i wish some of you would...at least i look after my money and didn't spend it on seeing linkin park and my chemical romance..

Rumours

Anything to do with rumours is going to be removed immediately without question. If you want to add something to this article you are going to have to provide sources. Please read our policy, WP:ATT. AlistairMcMillan 23:49, 9 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

what about the removal of hayseed dixie from the festivals 2007 lineup section? they might have confirmed it on their own website, but heres no official confirmation on the download website. does that come under the rumour category? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 213.120.81.205 (talkcontribs) 11:43, April 12, 2007 (UTC)
There is a big difference between a band announcing they are playing at Download and a magazine or some forum poster reporting a rumour. AlistairMcMillan 14:38, 12 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
But surely if a band announces that its playing it cant be taken as the truth if the actual official website doesnt confirm it. Because if thats the logic, i could announce on my bands website that we are going to play the festival and just put ourselves on the wikipedia page. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 213.120.81.205 (talk) 15:40, 12 April 2007 (UTC).[reply]
Please read WP:ATT. Information needs to be accompanied with "reliable sources". Devildriver also announced they were playing at Download before the official site confirmed it. AlistairMcMillan 17:17, 12 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

My Chemical Romance

I keep trying to edit in that MCR got bottled at Reading 06 and they will get bottled again this year. FOR SURE! —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Jay316 (talkcontribs) 19:03, April 13, 2007 (UTC)

Grow up. AlistairMcMillan 22:45, 13 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Oh yeah well I'm sure we'll see at Download, I'll be throwing bottles, just as the rest of the 20,000 + people who would rather see a good band like Megadeth or Slayer headline than a S*** emo band, Linkin Park is bad enough, the only good Headliner this year is Maiden. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Jay316 (talkcontribs) 12:14, April 14, 2007 (UTC)

Uh-huh. Your personal opinion is still not going in the article. AlistairMcMillan 17:04, 14 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah but it's fact they will get bottled just like Gun's N' Roses did last year. MCR got bottled at Reading and you really think they wont this year? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Jay316 (talkcontribs) 17:36, April 14, 2007 (UTC)

Read WP:ATT. Your personal opinion is still not going in the article. AlistairMcMillan 18:46, 14 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
And if you don't cite a source for your recent edit to A.D.I.D.A.S. quickly, that will be coming out too. AlistairMcMillan 18:47, 14 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I cant cite it, I got it off the Wikipedia page for Korn

Did they get bottled?

Yeah got their asses handed to them lol so did Aiden, it was awesome 80.229.169.189 14:55, 28 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Recent additions

Will whoever keeps removing my edit about My Chemical Romance please stop, also unfortunately Emo is a part of Download, many of the bands playing have been called emo, just look at the references for the emo page on wikipedia. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Jay316 (talkcontribs) 23:52, April 19, 2007 (UTC)

Okay two problems with that. Firstly we can't use Wikipedia as a source, see WP:ATT. Secondly it was you that added My Chemical Romance to the Emo page, see this edit. At this point your edits are bordering on vandalism. If you continue you will be blocked from editing. AlistairMcMillan 00:52, 20 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

So what? MCR are Emo, and Download does have EMO bands, stop abusing your admin power and go clean up some old articles from the 80's, ok? leave me alone to edit freely, or better yet, do something constructive instead of living in front of your computer and editing wikipedia, sourcing everything in your power like a little admin elf who wants to be king Jay316 08:59, 20 April 2007 (UTC) Oh I almost forgot, I said look at the sources on the Emo page, your into sources so why don't you practice what you preach elf. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Jay316 (talkcontribs) 09:01, April 20, 2007 (UTC)

Haha, well sead. It does seem that there is a bit abuse of power going on here. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 213.120.81.205 (talkcontribs) 12:38, April 24, 2007 (UTC)

2007 Info

I have deleted:

"Dez Fafara announced on the DevilDriver World online forum that DevilDriver, hope to get in the Guinness World Records book for the size of their circle pit at this festival.[1]"

As it is certainly not remarkable and does not appear relevant to an encyclopedia. Anyone can announce they are going to try to get into the world record books.

The 2007 infomation section needs cleaning up as it is a bit all over the place and contains quite alot of unremarkable infomation without citations. -Reue-

Should we mention that during the Iron Maiden set a guy tried to throw an egg but missed so Bruce completely shot him down? Jay316 10:26, 15 June 2007 (UTC)

2007 info updated

There seems to be a paragraph detailing the bottling during my chemical romance and aiden and how there sets were cut short. I unfortunately was at the aiden set and im pretty sure they played there full set, i also read that MCR were only bottled for there first 4 songs or so then it subdued, and that they finished there set early because their guitarist slipped on some of the water from the bottles injuring his back.

Are there any sources for the statements? if not perhaps it should be deleted as its not really that important.

it also seems a bit biast towards the people bottling, calling the bottlers "metal fans" when there is no evidence to sugest this. 212.140.250.54 11:58, 24 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Why is it called download? Does it support p2p/torrents?
