Alain Whyte

Alain Whyte (born 3 July, 1967) is a guitarist who has worked with Morrissey since 1991. (He is English and his name is pronounced "AL-an", not "a-LAIN" in the French fashion.)

He writes the musical portion of many of Morrissey's songs. These include:

He co-wrote the song "You Know I Couldn't Last" with Morrissey and Gary Day. The track is featured on Morrissey's 2004 album, You Are the Quarry.

Whyte had a busy 2005. In addition to recording with producer Tony Visconti on the Morrissey album "Ringleader of the Tormentors" (released April 2006), Whyte debuted a new band in Los Angeles on April 30, 2005: Red Lightning. Comprised of Whyte on lead vocals and guitar, John DiMambro on bass guitar and Milo Todesco on drums, Red Lightning showcases Whyte's songwriting talent with virtuoso musicianship and an exciting live show. The band has listed U2, The Clash, The Cult, The Smiths and Morrissey as its influences.

Red Lightning recorded a full-length album with producer David Newton (Mighty Lemon Drops, Fonda, The Blood Arm & Blue Aeroplanes) in 2005, but are currently without a label. The band has produced a limited edition enhanced EP CD for their tour of the Southwest US called "LA Crash Landing" with the following tracklisting: 1.Something out of Nothing 2.Crushed 3.L.A. Whyte has also performed in the bands The Rugcutters, Born Bad, The Memphis Sinners,The Memphis Flash, Johnny Panic, Crash Action, The Gazmen, The Motivators, and Tiger Army(background vocals on their fourth album "Music from Regions Beyond")
