"His Story II"

"His Story II" is the 64th episode of the American sitcom Scrubs. It originally aired as Episode 18 of Season 3 on April 6, 2004.

Episode overview

In this episode that is partially narrated by Christopher Turk, Turk is beginning to panic about his upcoming wedding. He is unsure over whether to mail the invitations to the wedding after J.D. points out that there will be no turning back. Meanwhile, Turk also has to operate on Bryan, a talented young concert pianist. But Turk makes a mistake in surgery and lacerates the brachial artery, limiting the use of Bryan's hand and thereby ruining the young pianist's career. Turk backs out of telling Bryan exactly what went wrong.

Meanwhile, Dr. Cox gets into an argument with Dr. Miller about her associating with Dr. Kelso, with Cox reminding her that Kelso is evil. And Elliot is feeling lonely, as her boyfriend Sean is still away in New Zealand. The fact that Elliot will get to be the pediatrics clown lifts her spirits until she finds out that she is too busy working. One of Elliot's patients explains to Elliot that the perfect man is one who is there for her without her having to ask. J.D., left with nothing to do after Cox cancels his role in a research project, fills in for Elliot as a clown.

Carla finds out that Turk didn't admit his mistake to Bryan, so she encourages him to own up to the mistake. Turk does so and realizes that Carla is perfect for him because she always leads him to do the right thing, so he mails the wedding invitations. Meanwhile, Dr. Miller decides not to side with Kelso or Cox, telling Cox that he and Kelso are both too alike. Instead of going to Kelso's dinner, Miller goes on a date.

After a long day, Elliot and J.D. relax on the couch in his apartment. But something happens between them, Elliot kisses J.D. and they end up sleeping together. Afterwards, Elliot explains that they slept together because he was there for her, without her having to ask. But then Sean arrives and Elliot happily goes off with him after Sean says that he sensed that Elliot needed him, so he came without her having to ask. JD is left feeling crushed.

Cultural references

  • The scene in which Turk imagines Carla inside the mailbox is an homage to the film "It".
