Animora is a character from CrossGen Entertainment's Sigilverse. She appeared in Mystic series as a major enemy of the hero Giselle Villard. Animora is one of the self-styled gods called The First, as she is young she is certainly a Secundae (one of the children of the original gods).

Character details

Animora is a deformed, Gorgon-like demi-goddess. Before she was cursed she was strikingly beautiful and had long green hair and wore green and black metallic body covering. She had a public fight with Ingra over Darrow and was defeated. As a result Ingra cursed her, changed her body to its current reptilian form and banished her from Elysia.

After being banished by Ingra, Animora wandered the galaxy and found Ciress, a planet rich in magical energy. She choose to stay there and rule the world. However, the local mortals were powerful magicians and they resisted Animora. Together, the eight guild leaders then living created a trap and captured Animora in a featureless void. This trap was only successful because one of the guild masters, the leader of the Taroc guild, sacrificed herself (see CrossGen Chronicles #8).

Many years later, the current group of magical guild leaders choose to free Animora in the hopes that she would destroy Giselle, the only Sigil-Bearer on the planet and a major annoyance to the guild leaders. The Dark Magi guild leader did this under the assumption that once Giselle was dead, the guild leaders would have the power to place Animora back into the void, a highly questionable assumption.

Animora is defeated by Giselle in a battle (issue #14) when Giselle learns that her Sigil is capable of stealing the energy (and life force) of The First. Animora is then confined in a new magical prison. However, this prison is broken by her old friend Darrow and Animora wrecks havoc and destruction on Ciress before Giselle can defeat her again (issue #20). However, this second defeat was actually planned by Animora who thinks she can use Giselle as a weapon against her old enemy, Ingra. Gradually Animora is able to control Giselle's mind and soon a confrontation does occur between Giselle and Ingra.

In this battle, with Animora controlling Giselle and despite her added power, Ingra easily defeats Giselle and then summons the now power-drained Animora from Ciress, confining her to a new prison.

Animora is a typical member of House Sinister, egotistical, cunning, and prone to mistakes of over-confidence (hubris). For a similar if somewhat more appealing member of House Sinister see Evinlea.

Animora's fate after being captured by Ingra is unknown.
