Race the Sun is a 1996 comedy-drama movie, mainly starring Halle Berry and James Belushi. It is loosely and imprecisely based on the true story of the 1990 Konawaena High School Solar Car Team which finished 18th in the World Solar Challenge, besting numerous corporate and university teams, and becoming the first high school team to complete the race - a distance of nearly 2,000 miles. Veteran teacher Bill Woerner assembled a team of Advanced Placement Physics students to accomplish the feat.
