On occasion comments made by members of the games industry on this forum have made news throughout the industry. For example, when Nintendo revealed that the final name for their code-named console the Revolution would be Wii, MTV quoted responses from NeoGAF members Speevy and Sho Nuff. [4]

Although it is not associated with Gaming-Age, the editors of 1UP.com are known to frequent NeoGAF more than the 1UP forums and have even lifted news straight from the forum. An inside joke as of late is "GAF > Internet > GAF", which points out the humor in topics being lifted by news sites then being reposted again on NeoGAF by new members. In a 2007 1UP podcast, one of the editors explained the prominence of NeoGAF as being because it was the sole place for discussion at one point in time. [citation needed]

History

The community originally existed as a forum of the gaming fan site Gaming Age. Due to both increasingly heavy traffic to the forum, and simultaneously declining traffic to the front page, administrators of Gaming Age decided to close the forum.[5]
