I think you meant to send that to an article on uncyclopedia :P. Funny, though. :D Cheers =) --slakrtalk / 03:52, 3 December 2007 (UTC)

  • LOL... I actually thought it would be a reasonable redirect to the legitimate article here. The humor is not lost on me though. :P --Kinu t/c 03:53, 3 December 2007 (UTC)

Sorry, I was unaware of the move function and didn't think to use it. I will remember if it happens again. Thanks for the fix! Pejorative.majeure 04:19, 3 December 2007 (UTC)

Deletion of Faculty of Economics and Commerce, University of Melbourne entry
This discussion has been archived and should not be modified. To comment, please create a new topic at the bottom of my current talk page by clicking here.

Hi, Kinu

I'd be interested in getting more details as to why you deleted my entry for the above. As a senior administrator within the Faculty, I have clear copyright ownership.

Any details gratefully received.

Regards

  • Nothing is "clear"... the owner of the copyright is the University of Melbourne, not you. If you have express written permission of the university, please provide information to indicate this. --Kinu t/c 05:25, 12 December 2007 (UTC)

User 216.93.229.62

I suggest you unblock that user. No one else will and this user is being really honest about the mistake. Footballfan190 (talk) 22:22, 28 December 2007 (UTC)

  • If an editor from that IP wants to be unblocked, s/he can file an unblock request on his/her own behalf. Besides, how do you know the user is being honest (unless that was actually you)? Trust me, I reviewed the previous unblock request and contributions before making a decision. --Kinu t/c 23:42, 28 December 2007 (UTC)

Deletion of Aqua Books entry

Hi Kinu

Aqua Books is notable as the sponsor of the Aqua Books Lansdowne Prize for Poetry. No less notable than McNally Robinson, which sponsors similar awards in Manitoba. Cheers.

Deletion of "Image:Logo xs2theworld3.jpg" ‎ (CSD I3: incompatible license, non-commercial use only.)

Dear Kinu,

Can you provide some guidelines on what I can do to have this image retained on Wikipedia? It is from a client's corporate website, and he has given me permission to use it. It is going to accompany a couple of entries he has asked me to write and post on Wikipedia. I'm concerned about posting up those entries as well, even though I have written them in an NPOV style and included references to companies with similar products. I have noticed many entries about companies already posted on Wikipedia that don't get deleted, and wonder why they are retained.

Thank you in advance for any assistance you can provide.

Best regards,

  • I would suggest creating the articles first... then the copyrighted image might have a fair use rationale (as a logo with an associated article). However, you are right about the conflict of interest here... generally, creating an article for a client is frowned upon. Nonetheless, as you seem familiar with the neutral point of view policy, I am more open to seeing your efforts and welcome any constructive contributions you can make. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask! --Kinu t/c 03:44, 31 December 2007 (UTC)

RSO EDIT: 12/30/2007

Hi Kinu, We're interested in knowing why you've reverted out edit, we're looking at his official Air Force records and trying to add to the RSO history. Is there something in particular that is inaccurate or inappropriate? We know that it's not inaccurate because the RSO in question is sitting next to me.

Thanks, Rob —Preceding unsigned comment added by Wallisfamily99 (talkcontribs) 03:21, 31 December 2007 (UTC)

  • Hello... my revert was to remove the image that was added to the article, which had no source information and was licensed as "Only non-commercial or educational use of this file is permitted." Such images are not allowed on Wikipedia; they must be freely licensed per the GFDL. If this image can be uploaded to Wikipedia, you are welcome to re-upload it with an appropriate license and reinsert the image into the article. In the meantime, any appropriate text you had added can be reintroduced... and I apologize if my revert removed that as well. Please bear in mind that you might not want to add text that may look like a conflict of interest... i.e., specifically about a certain individual/family member, unless it adds significant encyclopedic value to the article. Thanks for your message! --Kinu t/c 03:26, 31 December 2007 (UTC)

My apologies for restoring this -- apparently you deleted it, deservedly, for being non-notable in the same minute as I was putting it into AfD. I surely agree that it's non-notable but I wanted to ensure that this hoax article doesn't get recreated, and I hope you will forgive my recreating it. If you have a problem, I'm at your service on my talk page. Accounting4Taste:talk 06:11, 31 December 2007 (UTC)

  • No worries! The end result will probably be the same... might as well let process take its course. In fact, I'll put in my recommendation to dump this hoax at the AfD. :) Thanks for letting me know! --Kinu t/c 06:18, 31 December 2007 (UTC)

DELETION Sound Factory (band) PLEASE HELP!!!

Hi, I realy hope you can help me. I published an article about a relevant band, SOUND FACTORY an italian pop soul jazz band who collaborated with jazz legend Mike Stern, the guitarist, and it has been deleted and many times I have been accused to use illegally the content of other websites or images. I contacted the band's publicist and he informed the band Sound Factory, who appreciated my effort to write an article and appreciated I wanted to use their well-written biography and official images. They granted me to use EVERYTHING from their website or related sites. Here are the official proofs of what I am stating:

Can you help me to get back the page? I am new to Wikipedia and its editing so please help me, I did a lot of mistakes. Can the page be online again or unprotected so I can post again correctly with a link to permission or they way you want it? HELP PLEASE! I don't want to be blocked!

Sacredsoul2 (talk) 08:57, 1 January 2008 (UTC)

  • Thank you for providing proof of the release. Trust me, this release information was not present when the article was previously assessed and determined to be a copyright violation. I see you have created the article at another location; if you wish, you may move the article (using the "move" feature at the top of the page) to Sound Factory (band), which has been unprotected. This probably should be done anyway because this would be the appropriate title per Wikipedia conventions. Also, please note that others may edit this text as well, to make it encyclopedic and in line with Wikipedia standards... releasing this text allows anyone to edit it, not just you, so it may be altered to where it doesn't even look like the released text anyway. However, the content herein would definitely be a start. Thank you for contacting me regarding this matter. --Kinu t/c 19:39, 1 January 2008 (UTC)

Thanx really much Kinu! I know before there was not the copyright thing, I didn't know about all this kind of posting here and after I understood it all (I'm not even so good with computers so really sorry for all the mess!) I contacted the band through myspace and I have been enough lucky to have them replying to me and agreeding to use their "official" text and pics for wikipedia. The process was slow because they had to ask to their manager and pubblicist but at the end I had consent.
