RE: LED circuit AfD

I'm yet to see anyone provide any evidence in support of the notability of this claimed "LED circuit". People were quick to add speedy keep but completely failed to address the concerns I raised.A blitter (talk) 04:48, 30 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

  • I rather agree. The AfD was opened and closed within three hours. I would have voted delete, but was interrupted by a phone call. By the time I got back, the AfD had been closed. eaolson (talk) 04:53, 30 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
    • OK, I've undone my speedy closure. Pegasus «C¦ 05:41, 30 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your kind words

One of my favorite places Dear Kimchi.sg,

Thank you for supporting in my recent RfA. Words nor pictures can express my heartfelt appreciation at the confidence the community has shown me. I am both heartened and humbled by this confidence. I will carry the lessons learned from the constructive criticism I have received with me as I edit Wikipedia, and heed those lessons. Special thanks to Pedro and Henrik as nominators. Special thanks to Rudget who wanted to. A very special thanks to Moonriddengirl for her eloquence.

Cheers, Dlohcierekim 16:36, 1 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Happy Birthday, Kimchi.sg, from the Wikipedia Birthday Committee! Have a great day!

#ifexist limit and WP:PT/index.php

A limit on the #ifexist parser function, see Wikipedia:Wikipedia Signpost/2007-12-03/Software issues##ifexist limit, will break everyone's favourite list of salted spam pages. I suggest replacing {{protected title}} (which uses #ifexist) with just a straight transclusion (e.g. {{Talk:Spam/w/index.php}}). MER-C 10:00, 4 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Ugh... okay, time to fire up my editor and do regex replacements. :-( Pegasus «C¦ 14:13, 4 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
 Done Pegasus «C¦ 14:53, 4 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hmm... now we still have one #ifexist. But it probably won't matter anyway unless they pull #ifexist from existence altogether. *g* Pegasus «C¦ 15:05, 4 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

That comes from Template:Shortcut I believe. MER-C 05:00, 5 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Oh well... nothing I can do about that one. If memory serves me there was a small edit war on that template a while back over this very code, that does auto-linking. Pegasus «C¦ 06:42, 5 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

LED Circuit

Please review your close on this AfD. I think you have largely ignored the comments, and substituted your own judgment. Dhaluza (talk) 03:18, 5 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I did look at the references and comments. As I said, most keeps mixed the notability of an LED with the (non)notability of a circuit that happens to have an LED. Pegasus «C¦ 03:21, 5 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Very well, but that is your POV, not an impartial evaluation of what the commenters actually wrote, so I'm sorry, but I must appeal your decision:
An editor has asked for a deletion review of LED circuit. Since you closed the deletion discussion for this article or speedy-deleted it, you might want to participate in the deletion review. Dhaluza (talk) 01:51, 6 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
There was an "impartial evaluation" in the comments. Why you refuse to see it is beyond me. Another page to add to the file "great mysteries of life", I guess. Pegasus «C¦ 02:07, 6 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I wouldnt agree on that point, the users posting keep failed to show the notability of the article. The references presented (and the examples added since) were (are) taken entirely out of context.A blitter (talk) 05:21, 22 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
FYI the AFD has been submitted again Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/LED circuit (2nd nomination) GtstrickyTalk or C 15:10, 21 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

arrgh, all these intricate and formal forums and discussions are doing my head in. I'm not quite understanding how having the article up again and deferring all discussion to its talk page will result in anything other than the article remaining. Are you able to tell me what is the next phase of trying to get this article deleted? Perhaps kick it off in my talk page (SPA ftw!) A blitter (talk) 05:21, 22 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hey, I noticed you rejected a speedy deletion request for this article. This, amongst a number of similar articles from socks User:Its Pytch.. Hon and User:Webb Traverse, all appear to be non-notable, self-promoting conflicts of interest to me. I'd be interested in your opinion! Cheers. The Rambling Man (talk) 11:05, 5 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

  • Editor having a COI does not mandate article deletion. Editor's self-promotion does not mandate article deletion. All the Sex Ant Toys-related deletions you did were based on CSD G4 and I am not convinced they were correct. Will comment more tomorrow but I have seen enough deleted history to make this conclusion. Pegasus «C¦ 15:07, 5 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Can you offer guidance?

Hello, I decided to ask you because I like the name Pegasus. I work for a school that has an article on Wikipedia. Someone went into our article and put a pack of lies in there. Our IT guy traced the IP address to Ohio and we do have several students who were shown the door and have family ties to Ohio. But, we can't know for sure which one did it. Now, our communications person was able to edit the article and put things back correctly. However, we would like to protect the article to keep them from doing it again. (At least until they've gotten over the desire to see the President of the school almost have a stroke!) The URL is http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Massanutten_Military_Academy&oldid=174291717 and we are Massanutten Military Academy. Sorry for being so long...can you tell us how to protect the article from future damage? Thanks for your help. jmeirose@militaryschool.com —Preceding unsigned comment added by 204.111.123.203 (talk) 23:05, 6 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

  • I have protected the article from anonymous editing for two weeks, which should give those vengeful ex-students some time time to cool off. Our protection policy does not permit me to permanently protect the article unless it is a long-term target of vandalism. (Reply copied to User talk:204.111.123.203.) Vandalism

We are concerned about the vandalism on the Massanutten Military Academy page. Thank you for blocking it. Is it possible to delete the offending page from the history?communications (talk) 20:55, 7 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

  • No, we do not clean the history unless it contains (for example) personal information or copyright violations. Routine vandalism such as that we do not clear from history. Pegasus «C¦ 22:13, 7 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

More Notable Sources for Aspose

Hi,

I found more notable sources for Aspose.

http://sqlblogcasts.com/blogs/drjohn/archive/2007/11/11/ssis-getting-data-from-excel-files-using-aspose-cells.aspx

Hi,

Little update, the URL of CodeProject article i shared with you is changed to http://www.codeproject.com/KB/office/Word2Help.aspx . Moreover, Unedited Reader Contribution doesn't mean Self-Published Article. If you check this term explained here: http://www.codeproject.com/script/Articles/Unedited.aspx , you will see that all articles that are submitted to www.Codeproject.com through their submission wizard gets this status and with the passage of time, they move it to other specific categories based upon their popularity. Anyways, i just found it and shared with you as it is.

I want to share another notable source with you that i just found. Please check it too: http://www.builderau.com.au/program/soa/First-Look-Aspose-Excel/0,339024614,339131440,00.htm This website is owned by ZDNet and this page seems 2-3 years older. I hope, you will consider it too as a notable source.

By the way, Happy New Year. :) Salman.sarfraz (talk) 07:45, 1 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Wiki Social Contract

The reason that the article was incoherent, I believe, was that I clicked save to soon. I tried to rectify this and thought that I did so but when I searched for it it was solely a redirection to Rousseau's Social Contract. This is not its intended purpose. I request unprotection so that I can change this. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Que? (talkcontribs) 00:30, 21 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there - just a quick question. Why did you blank the above page? I left a message yesterday for the IP user concerned, which you've removed. Any particular reason? Thanks. Giles Bennett (Talk, Contribs) 14:06, 21 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I am 100% convinced it is Calton choosing to contribute anonymously. (No space/time for diffs right now but a little research will ferret them out.) I reckon his not replying to your question is intentional; since his last action to the page was to blank it, let it stay that way. We cannot force him to respond to any of our comments. Pegasus «C¦ 14:22, 21 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Fair enough - thanks for the response. Don't worry about diffs - just check the recent changes log, filter by User pages, then ignore logged in editors - only one person I know around here who works with that speed on spam userpages. Giles Bennett (Talk, Contribs) 14:24, 21 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Cliff Akurang

Hi there, I just wanted to ask if you could reconsider bringing back the Cliff Akurang article, it wasn't really a candidate for speedy deletion. I think it should have been kept because, as the article stated, he is soon to join a Football League club which means he will pass WP:BIO. As I put a lot of time and effort into the article I don't see why I should have to recreate it. Thanks. Cg29692 (talk) 17:20, 21 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

An editor has asked for a deletion review of Cliff Akurang. Since you closed the deletion discussion for this article, speedy-deleted it, or were otherwise interested in the article, you might want to participate in the deletion review.

The deletion review seems to have come to the conclusion that he shouldn't get a page until he plays for the club, so I will notify you on this page when he does play so you can restore the article. Thanks. Cg29692 (talk) 16:38, 22 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

IP block

Hi - just bumped into an IP you blocked (User talk:89.179.0.212) because of a spambot page on Commons. May I ask where you found it was an open proxy. From what I can see it is a dynamic corbina.ru IP - there has been a lot of bot activity from there but I've not found evidence that they are open - cheers --Herby talk thyme 17:36, 21 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

If XRumer created a spam page on Commons using the IP, that is sufficient evidence it is/was an open proxy at the time. The creeps that made that software boast of its advance open proxy database and I don't doubt them on that one. Pegasus «C¦ 13:29, 4 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hello! I saw you speedily deleted E-fine, that you believed qualified per A7 as no assertion of importance. Thank you. I had already reported the uploader at Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents#User:Destinyefine for 1) creation of the article that you deleted, 2) the image Image:Efine.jpg (history · last edit) that I believed qualified for I9 as copyright violation and User:Angusmclellan deleted for G11 as blatant advertising, and 3) vandalism of Wikipedia:Image copyright tags/Free licenses. (diff). Would you please take a look at the ANI and advise? Thank you! Taric25 (talk) 17:49, 21 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Image fair use issue

Hello. I have been having troubles with one of the bots regarding Image:ChoOyu.jpg. I am told that it does not specify fair use rational, when in fact I used the appropriate Non-free album cover template. Can you tell me if I'm doing something wrong? Many thanks. Wowbobwow12 (talk) 20:31, 21 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Just putting an explanation of what the image represents and a copyright template is not sufficient. The image must have a detailed "non-free content rationale" which explains in words why the image should be used in an article instead of any free-licensed alternative. See WP:NFCC for details. I would write one for you but without the article name I am flummoxed. Pegasus «C¦ 13:47, 4 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

hello

Hi i guess you recently deleted two postings i had put up. I was wondering why you did that and what i should be doing differently. I have quite a few more things to put up but i dont want to keep having them taken down. The last two i put up were related to SENSE Magazine. The second largest magazine of its kind in the South West US, and its publisher. The parent company of which, SENSE Media produces many publications such as the los angeles sports journal, and several tv shows that have either been on air or are coming up in the next season. any help you can direct my way would be great. Also will i need to rewrite all the stuff i did before to put back up those last two postings. it took me several hours. thanks.— Preceding unsigned comment added by Belair1 (talkcontribs)

Hi Pegasus. I would like to recreate the above page about this Nigerian football team. I see you deleted it as the previous version didnt establish its notability. Is it ok if i recreate the page, saying that they play in the top league of nigerian football, and provide references? Do recreated deleted pages get flagged somewhere, and can we avoid it being deleted again? I am presuming you agree that a good indication of the notability of a football club is if they play in their countries top professional league? Willy turner (talk) 09:40, 2 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Yes I agree, re-creation of the article is okay if the team is playing at the top level of a professional league. Pegasus «C¦ 13:16, 4 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I notice that the Brunswick News Channel page was delete. Please let me know what I need to do to have the page un-delete. Thanks, bwk news channel— Preceding unsigned comment added by Bwk news channel (talkcontribs)

The article was moved to Brunswick news channel and later deleted because it was an advertisement for the channel. A re-write is possible, but it must be written according to our neutral point of view and reliable source policies. If these policies are not followed the article will certainly be deleted again.
