American Idol

Syesha grew up in Sarasota, Florida and graduated from Booker High School - Visual and Performing Arts, where she was in the Theater department. At the 2005 Florida Theater Conference and The 2005 South Eastern Theater Conference Syesha won "Best Supporting Actress" for Seussical the Musical. Syesha Mercado is currently a contestant in the Top 24 on American Idol's seventh season. She auditioned in Miami and sang "Think (Freedom)" by Aretha Franklin. During Hollywood week She sang "Chain of Fools" also by Aretha Franklin. On February 20, 2008, she performed The Nashville Teens' "Tobacco Road" written by John D. Loudermilk.
