Tennessee is a 2008 drama film produced by Lee Daniels (producer of the Academy Award-winning film Monster's Ball). V V S Films has acquired all Canadian rights for the movie[1], while the U.S. rights in owned by Lee Daniels Entertainment. The film is at the stage of post-production, and it is scheduled for a Spring 2008 release.Mariah Carey revealed in an interview on TRL that the much anticipated movie premiere of "Tennessee" will take place in the upcoming Tribeca Film Festival.[2]

Synopsis

Two brothers, Carter (Adam Rothenberg) and Ellis (Ethan Peck), embark on a journey from New Mexico to find their estranged father in the hopes of saving Ellis, who has been diagnosed with terminal leukemia. Along the way they meet Krystal (Mariah Carey), an aspiring singer who flees her controlling husband (Lance Reddick) to join them on their journey.[3]

Music

Mariah Carey co-wrote "I've Got a Right To Dream" with Willie Nelson and performed it with Nelson's harmonica player, Mickey Raphael, for the movie's soundtrack.[4]

Trivia

Janet Jackson gained lots of weight for the role of "Krystal" but when shooting was pushed back,conflicts with Janet's schedule forced her to drop out,Mariah Carey was cast instead.[5]
