   * Jules Petroz

Jules Petroz was born November 28th 1960 in Geneva Switzerland. Major international art dealer. Iinitiated by his parent's antiquarians to the art of dealing antiques and works of art; he then studied the history of art at Geneva University. Founder in 1985 of the Petroz Fine Art Gallery, in Geneva. Jules Petroz has been active on the market since 1985. And since 1990, he has been working with his wife Aïcha. They have been furnishing museums and world-renowned galleries with rare pieces of furniture. They deal in Switzerland, France and much of the rest of Europe in search of unique pieces. Their interest covers antiques, from archaeological finds to contemporary pieces as well as Haute époque, Renaissance and the 18th century, with a special interest in old master and modern drawings, paintings, prints and ceramics. Always on the move, from one fair to another and visiting large and small galleries as well as private clients and art auctions, they work and deal primarily through the Internet or by phone. In 1997 Jules an Aïcha have made a major discovery: uncovering a hidden portrait of actress demimondaine Mery Laurent by Edouard Manet. Oil on canvas measuring 55 cm by 46 cm. and more recently, a self-portrait by Vincent Willem van Gogh.
