Mud Men, Mud People, Mud Boy, or Mud Girl are what fairies call humans in the Artemis Fowl series. This term conveys the inhabitants of The Lower Elements's dislike, and even contempt towards the human race.

Usage

The term "Mud Men" was first used in the book Artemis Fowl on page 33 in the sentence

If the Mud People knew that the word 'leprechaun' actually originated from LEPRecon, an elite branch of the Lower Elements Police, they'd probably take steps to stamp them out.

At this time Captain Holly Short was being introduced and used that term. The People use Mud Men whenever they talk about humans. In the story Holly uses the term Mud Boy to talk to Artemis until the second book in the series, Artemis Fowl: The Arctic Incident.
