eNom, Inc. Domain Name Registration and Services

The company eNom, Inc. is a domain name registration and services technology company founded in 1998 in Redmond, WA, and is the 3rd largest registrar of domain names. As of June 2005, eNom claims to "manage" more than 6.5 million domain names.

History

eNom has captured a big chunk of market share from established acts such as Network Solutions and Register.com. In fact, all 3 of them vie for position in State of the Domain's top 10 registrars chart. Of these 3, eNom includes the most standard features of any--and charges the most for the deal. If you need 100 e-mail addresses, a 10-page Web site, graphical site development, and neat extras such as a graphical front end that can send text messages to your cell phone, look no further than eNom.

eNom maintains multiple domain name servers located at different locations throughout the United States and Europe. Each of these locations has multiple high-bandwidth Internet connections, battery or diesel generator back-up power, security, and access to three different major Internet backbones. These dispersed, redundant name servers give eNom the ability to always delegate domain names, with no interruptions in service.

June 9, 2005 eNom logs six million hosted domain names. Online services provider is industry's third largest.

July 20, 2005 eNom, Inc. now accredited as a .eu registrar--among the first US registrars to get accreditation.
