Chhindwara (also spelt Chindawara or Chindwara) is a city and a municipality in Chhindwara district in the Indian state of Madhya Pradesh. It is the administrative headquarters of Chhindwara District. It is reachable by rail or road from adjacent cities Nagpur and Jabalpur. The nearest airport is in Nagpur (125 km).

Geography

Chhindwara is located at 22°04′N 78°56′E / 22.07°N 78.93°E / 22.07; 78.93[1]. It has an average elevation of 675 metres (2214 feet).

It has two lakes located in the middle of the town. Chhindwara is known for its richness in flora and fauna. Hundreds of important medicinal plants are grown naturally in the forest of this district. Tamia hills and Patalkot- The Hidden World is known as treasure of medicinal plants in Satpura plateau.

Anhoni(Amoni Samoni) "Anhoni" village is situated near "Maluhir" Police Station and at a distance of 2 miles from the village "Jhirpa" on Chhindwara-Piparia road.The place is within forest area. Anhoni is famous for the "Boiling water Kunda(a small pond)".The water is boiling all the time. The scientific reason behind this is Sulphur is being dissolved in the water.

The water of the Kunda is believed to be beneficial for skin diseases and for certain impurities of water.Some temples are also present around the Kunda.

This place is also famous as a picnic spot and a lot of people come from different direction for removing skin diseases as well as for their enjoyment.

kherapati Mandir Chandameta

This Temple is situated in Bhandaria, Chandameta (about 3 km. from Parasia). This Temple was constructed and founded by Mr.JHARI SINGH in 1948.A big snake is seen many times in this Temple .This Temple is more beautiful as compared to any other Temple in Chhindwara district.

GODADHDEV MANDIR NEELKANTHI

Godadhdev is an ancient religious place,which is situted near NEELKANTHI village which is 14 miles south-east of Chhindwara city. It is famous for SHIVLING and SHIV TEMPLE it is said that there are 12 SHIVLINGS buried under ground,at this time 4 SHIVLINGS have excavated. This temple was constructed between 7th and 10thcentury.A mysterious inscription can be found on one of the stone pillars of the temple. There is a reference to RAJA KRISHNA (III) of Rashtrakut Kingdom.

District Learning Center : Chhindwara is a small district of m.p.,but there are many opportunities available for students in this town. TNI DLC is such an opportunity for each student who belongs to Chhindwara district. NIIT Insitute of Information Technology (TNI).has opened its first "District Learning Center" in Chhindwara which was inaugurated by Mr. Kamalnath ,Commerce & Industrial Minister of Center Government of India. Here, many courses are available for graduate students such as Certificate in Basic Infomation Technology (CBIT), Certificate in Programing Infrastructure Management (CPIM), Certificate in J2EE and certificate in .Net. Now a days company name is HINDUSTAN UNILEVER LIMITED. Chhindwara Hindustan Unilever Limited is situated at village Lahgadua which 5 km from Chhindwara. There are 210 workers in Hindustan Unilever, they work in 3 shifts. This company has completed 75 years in 2008. The factory unit of Chhindwara produces 3 main products- Rin washing soap, Wheel washing powder and Surf Excel washing powder. It is only 1 factory unit of Hindustan Unilever in Madhya Pradesh. In the year 2007 the production was 70,000 units
