Your question regarding Jo Chen‎

Hi, since your informative summary indicated that you'd like to add a source to a claim in the Jo Chen article, I thought I might give you a pointer:

After the statement you want to back up (like just after that comma) place and fill in replacements the following "formula":

<ref>{{cite book | last = AuthorLastname | first = Firstname | title = Booktitle | publisher = [[Publisher]] | date = 2003 | isbn = 3540632ifthereisone }}</ref>

and that's basically it. You can see other formulas and more examples at WP:CITET.

But since that article doesn't have a ref section, you have to add one too, as easy as copying and pasting these few lines, above the External links section.

Hope that's helpful. Cheers, MURGH disc. 23:12, 8 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Video game genres: beat em ups

You keep removing and contradicting referenced information that maintains fighting games and beat em ups as separate genres. While people are usually pretty relaxed about adding and changing information, deleting referenced information is generally considered vandalism. Please see the talk page at video game genres. Hopefully you'll see the discussion there and you can begin to understand how references and research work in wikipedia. Happy editing. Randomran (talk) 23:19, 1 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not sure how you think games that have long been called "fighting games", and whose primary mechanic is physical close quarters fighting aren't fighting games. Quoting someone who's really no more authoritative on the issue than anyone else doesn't change that reality. Take this to the discussion page. From other comments you've made it seems you're not familiar with the genre, so please leave this section to someone people who are. Wolfpup7 (talk) 23:35, 1 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Consensus is that the sources cited are reliable. Please refer to the Video Game Project's manual of style. Please also read over WP:V and WP:OR, both of which you are violating. Bridies (talk) 16:03, 2 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Regardless of who is right or wrong, such back and forth behavior is neither necessary nor constructive. A discussion has been opened on the talk page and attention should be focused there. Further edits to revert each others edits should stop until a resolution has been reached. (Guyinblack25 talk 16:36, 2 May 2008 (UTC))[reply]
The discussion was opened three days ago and wolfpup has ignored it (see my post on the project page). Bridies (talk) 17:12, 2 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Actually no, you've ignored the discussion. Anyone seriously having to think twice about whether a game where the primary mechanic is hand to hand combat-a game who's genre has been called "FIGHTING" since before Street Fighter 2 popularized the term for versus fighters, is pretty clearly a vandal. If you honestly aren't, and don't get this, Google "Side scrolling fighter" and you should be able to find plenty of "sources". Wolfpup7 (talk) 00:49, 3 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
