Stefán Hilmarsson has actually revealed that Nina is deceased, and that´s why the protagonist only meets her in his dreams. He went on to say that he was surprised of the general positive, upbeat reception the song got, because, as already stated, it´s a eulogy. No reference, though, just caught it on the radio.
