Newcastle Gremlins
Newcastle Gremlins are a football hooligan firm linked to the English football club, Newcastle United F.C.[1]
Background
In March 2002, the Gremlins fought with hooligans from Sunderland's Seaburn Casuals in what was described as "some of the worst football related fighting ever witnessed in the United Kingdom".[2] The fight was alleged to have been prearranged by Mobile phone calls.[3]
In October 2003, 87 Newcastle fans were arrested after clashes with fans from Dutch side NAC Breda before a Uefa Cup match. None of the 87 arrested received charges and were either sent home or sent back to England.[4]
Hooligans from Newcastle and Sunderland fought again in April 2008 after the Tyne-Wear derby and eleven people were arrested which led to police having to close off part of Newcastle-Upon-Tyne city centre.[5]
