Battle of Tehumardi
Appearance
The Battle of Tehumardi was an event where forcibly conscripted local Estonians in both the Soviet 249th Rifle Division and the German 67th Infantry Regiment fought a pitched night battle[1] on 8 October 1944 during World War II. The battle took place on the Sõrve peninsula of Saaremaa; after the war the Soviets built a memorial at the site. Approximately 200 Red Army soldiers are buried near the memorial: it is unclear where the German soldiers are buried.
