John Gerald O'Hurley (born October 9, 1954, in Kittery, Maine) is an American actor and popular television personality who is perhaps best known for his recurring role as Jacopo Peterman on the 1990s NBC sitcom Seinfeld. John attended Kingswood-Oxford School in West Hartford, Connecticut and graduated from Providence College in 1976.

Career

On September 11, 2006, John replaced Richard Karn as the fifth host of Family Feud. In March 2007, John took the lead role in the Wynn Las Vegas's production of Spamalot, in which he plays the lead role of King Arthur.

O'Hurley financed the re-launch of The J. Peterman Company with the (real) John Peterman and thus became a joint owner of the (reincarnated, real) J. Peterman Company.

He also is one of the guest speakers in the Candlelight Processional at Epcot Center in Walt Disney World.

O'Hurley has also been the host of the Annual Purina Dog Show every Thanksgiving since 2002.

He was a contestant on the first season of the popular television show Dancing with the Stars which aired during the summer of 2005. After fans of the show complained that the final competition between O'Hurley and ABC soap opera star Kelly Monaco was set up so that Monaco would win despite O'Hurley's superior showing (a controversy that O'Hurley did nothing to dispel in interviews afterwards), the network announced that O'Hurley, Monaco and their professional dancing partners would face off in a special episode of the series. The "grudge match" was broadcast on September 20, 2005, with results to be announced two days later. Unlike the first episode, the three professional ballroom-dance judges had no say in the outcome — they only offered commentary, and a viewer vote determined the winner. This time, O'Hurley and his dance partner Charlotte Jørgensen emerged as the winners. O'Hurley and Jørgensen have since produced a dance instruction video called, "Learn to Dance with John and Charlotte".
