Rustem Igor Gamow, son of George Gamow, is a microbiology professor and mountain climber. He invented the Gamow bag and the high altitude bed. The book One Two Three ... Infinity: Facts and Speculations of Science was dedicated to him by his father.

In the spring of 2004, the University of Colorado at Boulder fired Dr. Gamow for moral turpitude.
