Coulsdon High School is situated on the border of Coulsdon and Caterham. It is a designated Technology College placing a special emphasis on Technology, Science, Maths and Information & Communication Technology.Throughout a yearly period between mid 2006 and early 2008,Coulsdon High was put into 'special measures' by Ofted as its' educational attainment was below the national average.Although managing to improve and emerge out of special measures, Coulsdon high school will be closing down at the end of July 2008.

The school will re-open in September 2008 as a city academy known as the Oasis Academy.Academies are publicly funded independent schools. The majority of funding for building and facility costs comes direct from central government (Department for Children, Schools and Families, or DCSF). The DCSF also funds the annual running costs of the Academy via a grant each academic year.Oasis hopes to work closely with the entire community, and local businesses aswell as the students and parents.
