Third World Visa Free/VOA System

How come alot of the third word countries require everyone to have Visas? Why cant they have a Visa Free or VOA system? How come alot of citizens from the third world have their passports rejected more than others e.g. EU/US?Pryde 01 (talk) 09:15, 1 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Citizens of poorer countries are more likely to be illegal immigrants. Therefore their visa aplications are checked more thoroughly and are more likely to be rejected.

As for why third world countries require visas for westerners :

1) Reciprocity : Western countries require visas or their citizens, so why shouldn't they require visas for westerners ?

2) Immigration control : Many of these countries aren't exactly deomcratic, and the respective governments want to hav a tabs on how many "liberal westerners" enter.

3) Revenue : For African embassies especially, visas fees are often their only source of income, as home governments often are unable to pay for the upkeep fo the embassy.
