MSN Toolbar (codename Salsa) is a toolbar designed as part of Microsoft's MSN range of services. The Final version was released May 22, 2008. The toolbar is powered by Silverlight, which allows additional features such as the drop-down MSN channel previews, showing the latest content from within the MSN portal without requiring the user to move from the internet page they are currently browsing. From the same preview pane users can also choose to search that part of the site.[1]

MSN Toolbar integrates the Live Search box. In additional to the traditional web search functions, MSN Toolbar also allows searching on other Live Search services such as Maps and Videos, and searching within a specific MSN channel. Additionally, when you perform a search query on another search engine, MSN Toolbar's search box will automatically populate itself should you wish to view results from Live Search.

MSN Toolbar also incorporate a breaking news feature. Whenever MSNBC releases a Breaking News story, the news button on the Toolbar lights up to alert the user of the breaking news.
