Only By The Night is the highly anticipated fourth album by Kings of Leon. Only By The Night is due to be released on September 22, 2008 in the UK, and September 23, 2008 in the US. Few details of the album are known so far.

Background

In September 2007, lead singer of the band, Caleb Followill confirmed to NME that tracks were already being worked on for a fourth album[1], only a few days after the release of the highly successful third album, Because Of The Times. Gradually, more information has become available through the band's official website[2], and other well known music sites.

Recording began in February 2008, and is currently being finalized in Nashville's Blackbird Studios. On June 23, 2008, the release date of September 22, 2008 was set, and also the new title was announced.

In interviews with the band, it has been said that the next album will "rock harder" and more tracks like Charmer, Black Thumbnail and Camaro have been suggested. "We've broadened our musical tastes in the past couple of years and feel we're ready to tackle our southern roots...again" says Jared Followill, the band's bass guitarist.

Tracks

So far, two tracks from the album have been debuted. Namely, "Crawl" and "Manhattan", both of which can be found via YouTube[3]. Caleb Followill claims that pain relieving drugs, which he took following a fight with his brother (and drummer of the band), Nathan Followill, have greatly enhanced his lyrics, causing him to write "the best songs of his career". A complete tracklist is expected to be announced shortly, although tracks known as "Closer," "Cold Desert," "Seventeen," "Notion to Say," "Use Somebody," and "Sex On Fire" have been thrown around by the media as confirmed titles. Tour

No tour dates have been set as yet, however it is likely that the band will announce a US and European tour closer to the album's release date.
