Kanimozhi was born in 1968 in Chennai. She is a Tamil poetess, journalist and politician. Kanimozhi is the daughter of the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Karunanidhi and Rajathi Ammal. She prefers to be called Kanimozhi.[1]
Personal life
Kanimozhi was a student of Presentation Convent, Church Park in Chennai and later did her Masters in Economics in Ethiraj College for Women from Madras University.She married Athiban Bose a Sivakasi based Businessman in 1989 after divorce she married G. Aravindan a Singapore based Tamil literary figure through mutual love of Tamil literature on August 21, 1997.[2][3]She has deep love for the Tamil language in particular Sangam Literature.She started a portal supporting Free speech along with Kathik Chidambaram.
Career
She was a sub editor for The Hindu.She was the incharge of Kungumam a Tamil weekly magazine.She was also Columnist and conducted programmes in Sun TV and Vijay TV.She has also a features editor for a Singapore based Tamil newspaper called Dhina Murasu.She has also written Tamil poetry and translated Tamil poetry into English of other poets.She became a Rajya Sabha member in 2007.[4][5]She is strong supporter of Pan Tamil issues in particular Sri Lankan Tamils.[6] She has organised Tamil folk art festivals called Chennai Sangamam.
She recently created a stir in the southern state of tamil nadu, for openly criticizing the blockbuster movie "Sivaji, The Boss", claiming it portrayed tamilians and tamil culture in a very degrading manner. She appears in the 2008 film, Vaazhthukal starring Madhavan.
