In a Perfect World... is the debut album by American singer Keri Hilson.[2][3] The album was slated for release in mid 2007,[4] but was pushed back to 2008.[5] The album now is scheduled to be released on September 23, 2008

Background

Hilson explained the title as the following,

It’s my way of saying nothing in the world is perfect and no person in it is, either. None of us is exempt from certain hardships and heartbreaks. It was really important for me to write songs that women can relate to from real situations. I didn’t want to do an album that painted myself as perfect because no matter how things look, no one is.[3]

Production

The album will include production by Hilson's common collaborators, Timbaland, who is the executive producer of the album, Danja, Polow da Don and others while boasting writing credits from fellow Timbaland-collaborator, Justin Timberlake and her writing and production collective, The Clutch.[6]

Songs

Polow da Don confirmed in an interview with Rap-Up that the first single would be "Henny and Apple Juice", which featured Ludacris and Snoop Dogg.[7] It was later confirmed at the Verizon and People show dedicated to Timbaland that Hilson's first single would be "Return the Favor", which she performed at the show.[1] However, Amazon has officially added a song called "Energy" for purchase on May 27, 2008. It has been confirmed by Keri Hilson's myspace page that the single "Energy" is the official first single of the album by Hilson entitled "In A Perfect World".Keri recently recorded an uptempo track called "Turn Off" which features rapper Lil' Wayne and produced by Polow Da Don. Recently Keri has joined the Russ Parr Bus Tour 2008 and has been performing a new song called "Do It" which she confirmed is going to be on the album and samples LL Cool J's "Doin It Well".[8] Hilson also mentioned that the third single would be difficult to choose, because she liked "Do It", "Return the Favor", "Get It Girl", "Henny And Apple Juice", and "Hands And Feet". However she hinted that "Hands And Feet", and "Henny And Apple Juice" would most likely not be singles. So it is in between "Do It", "Return the Favor", and "Get It Girl".

Promotion

A pre-listening of the album was made on July 05, 2008 by Keri Hilson. She sang many songs off of the album, especially "Turn Off", which features Lil Wayne. It has heavily impressed the public. At the event Polow da Don was also present, the "Turn Off" producer, and he talked about Keri Hilson and her change in the music world.
