This page states that the Fairfax Line runs due south from the Fairfax Stone to the headwaters of the Rappahannock River; but that river lies EAST of the Blue Ridge in present-day Virginia, not in West Virginia. A line due south from the stone crosses the headwaters of the North Branch of the Potomac River which is now recognized as the boundary between Maryland and West Virginia.
