Tanda is a town in Gujrat District in the Pakistani province of Punjab. It is also a Union Council, an administrative subdivision of Gujrat Tehsil.[1]

Geography

Tanda is located at 32°42′N 74°22′E / 32.70°N 74.36°E / 32.70; 74.36. Tanda is the name of a small locality, which is a well known town of Gujrat. Bareela Shareef is a village located 3 km near Tanda. This village is famous for Darbar Shareef of a Muslim Saint Hazrat Khawaja Maulvi Muhammad Hafeez Ullah. Closeby to Darbaar Shareef there is a 90 yards long ancient grave. Everyday lots of people from all over the Pakistan visit Darbar Shareef. This Darbar Shareef is very famous for its unmatched discipline and hospitality that is extended to everyone regardless of age, nationality, race and religon.

Demography

Over 99% population is Muslim. Punjabi language is most commonly spoken in the town. Urdu Language is also a means of communication among the people.

Mota

Mota is a name of a village attached to Tanda. Tanda is also named as Tanda Mota.

History

Tanda is not only city of gujjars.It has a larg spectrum of brotherism.It is a blame on it that it suppors only gujjers. It is the only part of land which is in the peacefull condition as compared to the other villages in this area as Surrakhpur,Bareela,Sagger,Kakianwala etc,So the all over this area migrates to the TANDA in the result of their fightings and quarrls with other.So TANDA has become a place of all tribes.I am sory to read that statement on lovely TANDA

Education

The Government Higher Secondary School of Tanda has nurtured many brilliant students over the years which have gone to make a name is larger Pakistani cities and overseas.
