AWB

I don't have any specific group of articles I'd like to convert. I just think almost all articles with one form of distance measurements would work well with conversions on them, so everyone understand the distance, not just those people in America or metric countries. Also, in which case would there be some sort of measurement as a reference? Ctjf83Talk 01:42, 2 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

i completely agree... my testing spree was on all pages under Category:Rodents and i think i fine tuned it pretty well, only a couple false positives. Like I said before though, given how some articles are written, there's still a fair amount of proofreading you need to do with some replacements in order to make sure the article is still readable and you aren't being overly redundant. Given the level of extra effort by the user, it's not something to be implemented automatically by AWB - it's goal is to help editors do things faster, but not neccessarily all their work, that's why even if you click spellcheck, there's a big annoying warning box to remind you to check every edit. How comfortable are you with regex? I can show you the steps i took and who knows, you have some better ideas :) -ΖαππερΝαππερ BabelAlexandria 19:44, 5 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
If you are talking about the expressions, I have no idea how to use them. You'd have to teach me, or do it for me ;) Ctjf83Talk 21:04, 5 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
sorry about not getting back to you right away, I don't usually watch people's talk pages, and i've been slightly preoccupied with articles and the discussion at Wikipedia:Notability/RFC:compromise. Anyways, I've put together an explanation of how to use {{convert}} with the Find & Replace function in AWB, often referred to as an RETF or Regex fix (clicky). -ΖαππερΝαππερ BabelAlexandria 05:36, 15 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

There are a couple of unsourced cultural refs, so if you want to nip on IRC, we can get them sorted out before GAC. :) Qst (talk) 16:33, 7 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Davenport PR

Yes, I'd be glad to help if I can. I'll try to get to this tomorrow (Sunday). Finetooth (talk) 03:27, 14 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Done :-) Giggy (talk) 03:39, 14 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hey, actually I have been working slowly but steadily on Marge in Chains and Brother from the Same Planet so I'd like to continue on with those if that is alright. I can't speak for Scorpion0422 (talk · contribs) so you might want to ask him, and unfortunately Xihix (talk · contribs) has not been around here for a while. No time for IRC due to busy w/ IRL stuff, perhaps in a couple days. Cirt (talk) 17:44, 14 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, when ever you get the chance! :) Ctjf83Talk 17:46, 14 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Question

You have see my discussion, so could you do it? Also, when someone sends a message on the talk page, usually there is a yellow rectangle appears on top of page to notice user about it, but now I didn't see it anymore, why is that? 71.107.79.64 (talk) 22:09, 14 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Not either. 71.107.79.64 (talk) 22:15, 14 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Re: reversion

No problem. I never watch that show, so I wouldn't know. Thanks for letting me know that you removed my warning. J.delanoygabsadds 19:15, 16 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Your unfortunate treatment of newbie Rhyme & Reason

This template must be substituted. You might like to read the comments on the talk page of this beginning editor, and reconsider whether the way you treated him/her was really appropriate. --Geronimo20 (talk) 07:02, 15 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I agree -- Please don't bite the newbies, Ctjf83. Besides, you jumped a good number of warnings. Never should you jump from a first warning to a final warning, especially to newbies. It almost seems like a personal attack to me. --The One They Call GSK // talk to me // 17:22, 15 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
You replied, "Ok, why don't you two explain to me why a random rhyming poem on talk pages is at all beneficial to the article page? It doesn't take a rocket scientist to know it isn't!"
Sigh... I would have thought this didn't need "explaining". The poems were not at all "random", but were reasonably well constructed and made reasonable points. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to see that they are certainly not "vandalism". You could maybe have reasonably argued with Rhyme and Reason, that overdoing the poems was not appropriate. But it is your edits to his talk page that were unreasonable and can arguably be seen as vandalism. I think you have done damage here which you should acknowledge and rectify. --Geronimo20 (talk) 21:11, 15 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Do not remove these comments Ctjf83. This is awaiting a third opinion. --Geronimo20 (talk) 19:52, 16 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
The fact that you can't see that there is an issue here to do with your poor treatment of a newbie, and that you haven't acknowledged or dealt with it, is the issue. --Geronimo20 (talk) 20:23, 16 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
