References comments

someone needs to stop deleting the cultural references, they are solid.

um I'm pretty sure that the joke about Hank thinking that they will meet their long lost sister Dawn is a reference to the ep "Love Beihts" where Baron Underbeit thinks that Dean is a girl named Dawn, and Hank assumes that Doc was hiding a long lost sister from him, not a BtVS reference. -Maggie <3 66.186.99.197 (talk) 03:49, 26 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Some references are meant by the show's writer's to be recognized by everyone - such as The Cleaner's resemblence to Mr. Clean, and the use of "March of the Toys" to mimic March of the Wooden Soldiers. Is it really necessary to source these? ShawnVW (talk) 20:20, 10 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

You can source it to a commentary track. Recognition and enumeration of references and similarities is part of the role of critical commentary. If that doesn't exist then we shouldn't be creating it ourselves. Protonk (talk) 20:21, 10 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the diplomatic response in what has become a Revert War. I still disagree but I like your manners. ShawnVW (talk) 23:26, 10 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks. I don't really have a dog in this race, but I say the link on AMiB's talk page and I took a look at the article. My feeling is that the OR and verifiability guidelines prevent us from mentioning a lot of pretty obvious references. However, they also prevent us from making a lot of not so obvious inferences about other stuff, like history, politicians, etc. We don't need to follow the same rule all the time just for the sake of following it, but we should generally look to those guidelines when we are making these kinds of articles. that makes writing these articles a little less fun in some ways, and I respect that. But the net effect is that it makes wikipedia a more effective resource for all of our readers. That's my speech. :) Protonk (talk) 23:31, 10 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hoodrat

Is Hank's calling Molotov a "hoodrat" despite his love for her in Assassinanny 911 worth mentioning as a connection? I thought it was, but I had trouble figuring out how to write it. Also, the episode summary was much too detailed. I tried to put it back the way it was, but if someone has the original, they should put it in. I thought it was pretty good. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Dn655603 (talkcontribs) 15:03, 26 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I don't think it's worth mentioning, lots of people get annoyed by those they are attracted to. Lots42 (talk) 02:28, 31 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Refs

The Catwoman bit is a legit cultural ref because Brock actually says the word 'Catwoman'. But saying 'Something resembles something' is not enough. Lots42 (talk) 17:07, 26 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Who is the pretentious asshole deleting the cultural references? Get off your high horse and get a life, people want to know this info.

There's no need to be rude, there are avenues to take if you disagree with the edits another author is making. Also, putting four tildes (~) at the end of your message signs your info, this is standard practice. At the end of this sentence, I will put four ~. Lots42 (talk) 18:33, 28 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia elitist... ^^^ ...you are the type Colbert warned us about... —Preceding unsigned comment added by 170.201.180.137 (talk) 18:49, 29 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

??? Again, no need for rudeness. And Colbert is a comedian, he says whatever gets a laugh. Lots42 (talk) 02:55, 30 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

When the Monarch says "Dr. Venture, come out and plaaay" (or something along those lines) is that a reference to The Warriors? DudleyScardsdale (talk) 23:14, 30 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

It might have been if he'd actually said "come out and play-ay". But he didn't. He said "Come out, come out, wherever you are". Which is a cliché. They even discussed it being one. 71.241.148.116 (talk) 17:44, 31 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

#24

I really hope there won't be an edit war over the fate of #24. He's dead, until or if they tell us otherwise. Lots42 (talk) 02:55, 30 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

ATTN Please

Look, I don't have an opinion one way or the other at this moment, but you guys are going to get slapped down for an edit war. Calm down, PLEASE. Wikipedia is not -that- serious. Lots42 (talk) 02:27, 31 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Edit War

Some of you are engaged in an Edit War concerning both this page and the page of the previous episode. Please try to resolve this as described at Wikipedia:Edit_war before someone locks down the pages! (Sorry for forgetting to sign this.) ShawnVW (talk) 15:57, 9 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

You anal-retentive elitist pricks are ruining this wiki. Stop deleting everything! You don't need a fucking source to realize that the Cleaner is a reference to Mr Clean!

Valid points, in my opinion, but there is no need for the swears. Lots42 (talk) 16:26, 11 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Maybe you don't realize, but people who live outside the US (yes,we are real and we even understand your language) actually need a reference to realize that the cleaner resembles Mr Clean. Krastain (talk) 03:16, 19 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
