History

Chris was born and grew up in Utah, but also lived in Colorado, Oregon, and Arizona. He was anti-social and taught himself how to program in his early teens while becoming addicted to online computer games, such as Ultima Online.

His first job was a phone survey job, followed by a job at a San Francisco fast-food chain, Bistro Burger, from May 2004 to March 2005 after moving to Hayward, California. Chris worked at Kellco Services as the principle heavy metals analyst from March 2005 to March 2007.

From March 2006 to March 2007, Chris worked at Okashi Studios as a C++ software engineer, where he developed much of the user interface and graphics subsystem for the game, Shira Oka: Second Chances. Following this, he moved to Santa Barbara to work at Zeo Computing & Media as a software engineer and assistant manager from March 2007 to March 2008. Chris is currently working as a software engineer at APLogics, Inc. where he is responsible for the creation of payment gateway software.

He attended Snow College, Utah Valley University, Chabot College, and College of San Mateo. Most of his time in college was spent pursuing subjects of interest, such as Japanese, though some of the time was spent in attaining a degree in computer science. The goal of obtaining a degree faded after getting into the computer industry, defeating the purpose of the degree.

Nickname

Sydius is not a reference to Darth Sidious, but is an original creation. Originally created in the late 1990's, it was an attempt to create truly unique yet catchy nickname, after several years of using the much more popular Syris.

Syd is the short form of Sydius, and is often use in discussions or games. Syd, or rather Cid, is the original inspiration for the name, after the Cid character from the Final Fantasy series of console games. It was spelled differently to increase the likelihood of originality and extended to the full form for the same purpose.

Sydius.net, sydius.org, sydius.com, and sydius.name are all owned by Chris. Chris also has a custom California license plate with the nickname on it.
