Privilegium Maius

An medieval document dated 1358/59 by Rudolf IV, Duke of Austria that gave him and his Dynasty, the Habsburgs some never seen or claimed rights within the other Dukes oft the Holy Roman Empire creating the title of "Pfalzerzherzog" "Arch Count Palatine" when all others still were "Count Palatines" More informations but in german language: [[1]]

The "privilegium maius" is a conglomerate of five fake documents that by intended speculation came directly from Roman Emperors Julius Cesar and Nero giving and providing special rights to historic "regnum Noricum".

The first to be, that found out these documents were faked was Francesco Petrarca who was with Luxemburgean-Dynasty emperor Charles IV.

Later the Documents were recognised and declared as lawful by thre Habsburg emperors Frederick III, Rudolf II, and Charles VI. In 1852 these documents fianlly were said to be fakes by Wilhelm Wattenbach.
