Upper Iowa University is a private institution of higher learning offering degree programs to over 820 on-campus students and to over 6,000 center, graduate, and independent study students. Upper Iowa University also offers online programs, as well as programs at a number of off-campus locations in Wisconsin, Iowa, Illinois, Kansas and Louisiana. It also has an international presence, in Malaysia, Singapore and Hong Kong. The residential campus, located in the city of Fayette in the scenic Volga River Valley of northeast Iowa, Upper Iowa University provides education to a widely diverse student clientele, including both recent high school graduates and mature learners.
Accreditation
Upper Iowa University is accredited by The Higher Learning Commission and is a member of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools. Upper Iowa University is approved by the Louisiana Higher Education Board, the Wisconsin Educational Approval Board, the Illinois Board of Higher Education and the Iowa Department of Education for teacher education. The programs offered are approved by the states of Illinois, Iowa, Kansas (restricted), Louisiana, and Wisconsin for veterans' benefits.

Athletics
Upper Iowa is the only NCAA Division II school in Iowa; the Peacocks' colors are peacock blue and white. It is currently a member of the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference. UIU was a Division III member of the Iowa Intercollegiate Athletic Conference until 2003.
