Sam Champion

Sam Champion has been a weather presenter for WABC-7 broadcast television in New York City since 1988.

Sam has been honored by the Amateur Radio Emergency Service of NYC for his Emergency Weather Information, and he has championed many of the New York area's charitable organizations. He has made an ongoing commitment to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society as Grand Marshall of the Fall Bike Tour, the March of Dimes as chairman of the 25th annual NYC Walkamerica, and "Stopping AIDS Together," which is part of Sunday By the Bay, as master of ceremonies.

Sam holds a B.A. in broadcast news from Eastern Kentucky University.

He is not a meteorologist.

There is also a Brooklyn-based band named Sam Champion, in honor of their local weatherman.
