Eng-tips.com is a online discussion forum that allows engineers to exchange information with other about technical topics.[1]

The website's only content is the forums and all of the content is generated by the users of the website. The forums subjects include several areas of engineering, including aerospace, structural, mechanical, and many others. Users of the website have the option of marking a post as helpful, flagging it as inappropriate, or doing nothing with the post. People whose posts are marked as helpful are nominated for the Tipmaster of the Week and the top tipmasters are listed on the right hand site of the website. The owner of the company has limited tolerance for people whose post are flagged as inappropriate and bans users who receive two or more red flags.

The software used to manage the forums is unknown but of older variety. It is unchanged from the inception.

Eng-tips.com is owned by the Tecumesh Group and David F Murphy is the president of the company. The company is based in Ohio.[2]

A sister site called Tek-tips.com is also owned by the Tecumesh Group and runs the same forum software and same format as eng-tips.com.

Eng-tips.com was started in 1997. It earns money by selling advertising on the website and by e-mailing targeted advertisements to its members.[3]
