Luigi Fioravanti is an American mixed martial artist who fights out of Orlando, Florida with American Top Team[1]. He was recently released by the UFC and has not yet signed with another promotion. He has a professional record of 14-5-0.[2]
Early career
Fioravanti joined the Marines directly after high school, and was part of Operation Iraqi Freedom in 2003. Fioravanti started training in various martial arts such as Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and kickboxing while stationed in California and Iraq with the Marines.[3]After spending five months in Iraq, Fioravanti continued training and began his professional career in early 2005. He has fought such notable fighters as Chris Leben, Jon Fitch, Luke Cummo, and Dave Menne.
Fioravanti lost his next fight against Diego Sanchez at The Ultimate Fighter 7 Finale on June 21st, 2008 via TKO(strikes) in round three. Fioravanti put up a tough fight against Sanchez, defending well against Sanchez's takedown and submission attempts before Sanchez landed a kick to Fioravanti's head followed by a knee that put Fioravanti down. Sanchez then unleashed a flurry of punches before the referee stopped the fight.
Luigi's next fight was a catch-weight bout (173lbs) on December 10, 2008 against Brodie Farber at Ultimate Fight Night 17 which he won by unanimous decision.
