Boondox

Boondox is an American rapper from Covington, Georgia whose stage persona is that of a killer scarecrow. He is signed to Psychopathic Records.

Biography

Boondox was born in Richmond County, Georgia, as David Hutto. .[1] At the age of five, his uncle tried to kill him by drowning him in a swimming pool.[2] Boondox was not popular at his school, frequently got into fights and experimented with drug use.[2] He listened to heavy metal bands such as Iron Maiden, Metallica and Sepultura, and played bass guitar in several local metal bands before seeking a solo career as a rapper under the name "Turncoat Dirty".[2] While selling cassettes of his early recordings at an Insane Clown Posse concert, the group took notice of his music, and after several phone calls with Joseph Bruce, Boondox was signed to Psychopathic Records, making him the first Southern hip hop performer on the label.[1]

On July 11, 2006, Boondox released his first album, The Harvest, featuring appearances from Axe Murder Boyz, Blaze Ya Dead Homie, Insane Clown Posse and Twiztid. A music video was filmed for the album's first single, "They Pray With Snakes," directed by Bruce,[3] and Boondox toured with Blaze Ya Dead Homie to promote the album.[1] In 2007, Boondox released the extended play PunkinHed. It peaked at #10 on the Billboard Top Heatseekers chart and #27 on the Top Independent Albums chart.[4] During the same year, he joined Psychopathic Rydas, performing under the name "Yung Dirt".[2] On May 13, 2008, Boondox released his third studio album Krimson Creek, a more personal work drawing from his past.[2] It peaked at #1 on the Billboard Top Heatseekers chart, #13 on the Top Independent Albums chart, and #113 on the Billboard 200.[5]

Boondox is set to release his third studio album, South of Hell, in June 2009.[6]
