Series 1: 2007
The first series primarily revolves around the team originally forming, following several creature attacks in the Forest of Dean, as well as Cutter's search for Helen his missing wife, who has suddenly reappeared at the same time as the creatures from the anomalies. Throughout the series Nick Cutter seems to become romantically involved with Lester's PA, Claudia Brown. In the series finale Cutter travels through an anomaly and upon his return he discovers that Claudia Brown no longer exists and that the evolutionary timeline has changed. This cliffhanger is picked up in episode 7, the first episode of series 2.

Series 2: 2008
The timeline change in Series 1 happens in its finale, and Cutter gets accustomed to the new universe for the majority of Series 2. By now Cutter no longer seems to care about Helen and Claudia Brown has completely disappeared, being replaced by the identical Jenny Lewis. Throughout the series Cutter and his team try to discover who at the ARC is a traitor, it was later revealed that this was Claudia Brown's replacement Oliver Leek who had been manipulating things from behind the scenes. Series 2 marks the last known appearance of Stephen Hart who dies after giving his life to save Cutter, the team and the general public from an attack by a series of creatures in episode 13.

Series 3: 2009
Template:Future television A third series has now been given the green light, and was planned for a February 2009 airdate, with 10 episodes.[1] ITV media have confirmed that Primeval Series 3 will begin on March 28th. It is scheduled to begin airing on German TV on March 23, 2009.[2] Producer Tim Bradley revealed that in the third series there will be a scenario at an airport, with a Giganotosaurus called "G-Rex" by the producers.[3] There will also be a Egyptology story with a Pristichampsus, as well as a big sequence in the ARC itself. Helen Cutter will reappear, and the series finale will feature a future world[4]. The first trailer for series three was aired in late November, showing clips of forthcoming episodes.
Adrian Hodges[5] said three writers have been confirmed for Series 3: Steve Bailie, Paul Farrell and Paul Mousley. Doctor Who and Torchwood writer James Moran will also be joining the writing team.[6]

An anomaly appears in the "sun cage" at a museum which leads young Egyptologist Doctor Sarah Page to investigate, only to be attacked by a Pristichampsus (a crocodile-like creature), Cutter and his team are then called in and Connor discovers that the sun cage, which is made of magnetic stone, holds the anomaly and may be a key to help secure future anomalies.
