M. G. Soman (1942-December 12, 1997)) was an Indian actor. He was considered as one of the superstars in Malayalam cinema along with Sukumaran and Jayan in the earlier era. He hails from Tiruvalla. He was a supporter of Indian National Congress.
Early Life
Soon after retiring from the air force, Soman joined a drama troupe and then to moved to the film industry. His first film was Gayatri directed by P. N. Menon in 1973. He acted in the role of a hero from 1976 to 1983 and later played the roles of villains, comedians and supporting roles. In 1977, his greatest film was released under the direction of I. V. Sasi - Itha Ivide Vare. He then became the busiest actor in the industry. By 1984, Soman had released 48 films. In 1997, Lelam, directed by Joshi, was his last film and his performance as Aanakkattil Eeppachan was much appreciated. He died on December 12, 1997.
His son Saji Soman also acted in a few movies, but was not very successful.
